Job Responsibilities

As a Safety Clerk (Construction), you will be supporting our client, one of the world’s largest engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), maintenance, and project management companies. The Safety Clerk (Construction) will join the project team supporting the construction of a large transit project. The Safety Clerk (Construction) will be responsible for providing general administrative support and assisting the Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Department.

  • Managing office schedule.
  • Answering phones and coordinating meetings.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, correspondence, travel arrangements and expense reports.
  • Maintaining the Safety department files, including Compliance Reports, Monitor Reports, Analytical Reports and Employee Training files.
  • Assisting the HSE Department in using the file system.
  • Maintaining, updating and distributing environmental/safety policies and procedures.
  • Composing correspondence and Safety Incident/Accident/Near Miss Reports independently from sketchy notes and/or verbal and written instructions.
  • Maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDS) database and updates MSDS books for all construction segments/divisions as necessary.
  • Preparing notes from staff safety meetings.

Specific qualifications for the Safety Clerk (Construction) role include:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as an administrative assistant and/or office support assistant.
  • Experience maintaining and updating company safety policy and procedures.
  • Experience assisting the HSE Department with filing critical safety documents.
  • Proficient in standard software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in using schedule management and database management software.
  • Superior organizational skills, judgement and flexibility.
  • Must have good interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
