Position Description

Under General Supervision regularly and customarily test protective lineman's equipment.  This includes such work as the following illustrative duties:
1.  Cleans, tests and visually inspects protective equipment related to linemen's gloves, sleeves, blankets and line hose for defects and deterioration.
2.  Maintains computerized records of all tests, assignments and inventory records.
3.  Performs maintenance to maintain the testing equipment in good working order.
4.  Maintains supplies required to properly prepare the protective equipment i.e. (detergents, glove dust, shipping labels, shipping packets and transportation containers).
5.  Performs routine office and clerical work.
6.  Directs the work of and instructs others who, upon occasion, may be assigned to assist.
7.  Performs value added services in the area of testing for other companies or departments.
8.  Performs an annual inspection with the test equipment service representative to comply with ASTM and OSHA standards.
9.  Operates necessary automovtive equipment to complete the job.

Requirements:

1.  High School Diploma or equivalent.
2.  Must be capable of taking sufficient training to meet the full requirements of the job, or must had had other training or experience equally acceptable to this Company.
3.  Must possess a minor degree of skill or acumen in order to perform routine work by following detailed instructions.
4.  Must be able to exercise judgment acceptable to the Company in matters of minor importance and narrow scope.
5.  Must be willing and able to work extra and/or irregular hours.
6.  Must become and remain thoroughly familiar with the Company's Safety rules applicable to this and related jobs.  Must be capable of applying resuscitation and be able to render practical first aid.
7.  Must posses or be able to promptly obtain the appropriate vehicle operator's license.
8.  Must pass entry level test, when developed, prior to Company awarding job.

Position Requirements

Required:
High School education or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience demonstrating skill working with inventory control of safety equipment.
Experience demonstrating skill cleaning, testing and visually inspecting protective equipment related to linemen’s gloves, sleeves, blankets and line hose for defects and deterioration.
Experience demonstrating skill maintaining computerized records of all tests, assignments and inventory records.
Experience demonstrating skill performing maintenance to maintain the testing equipment is in good working order.
Experience demonstrating skill maintaining supplies required to properly prepare the protective equipment (i.e. detergents, glove dust, shipping labels, shipping packets and transportation containers).
Experience demonstrating skill performing routine office and clerical work.
Experience demonstrating skill performing value added services in the area of testing for other companies or departments.
Experience demonstrating skill performing annual inspection with test equipment service representative to comply with ASTM and OSHA standards.
Knowledge of ASTM and OSHA standards.
Experience demonstrating skill performing deliveries and pickups at various company locations as required.
Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software.
Experience demonstrating skill training, instructing and/or directing other employees in the testing, maintenance and repair of safety equipment.
Experience demonstrating skill using various hand and/or power tools.
Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites.
Ability and willingness to perform a second role in accordance with Pepco Holdings Emergency Preparedness Guidelines for all employees.
Ability and willingness to work non-standard and extended hours, rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and during system emergencies, as required.
Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and company regulations.
Ability and willingness to perform physically challenging tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders and scaffolding, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
Must successfully pass qualification test.
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check which consists of a 7-year criminal records check for felony convictions.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.

Preferred:
Experience demonstrating skill using high voltage rubber goods testing equipment.
Experience demonstrating skill maintaining schedules for evaluation of equipment.
