We are looking to hire a Construction Accountant with experience in Construction/Cost accounting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
  • Manage full cycle draws/pay app process for construction jobs
  • Manage project contract and change orders; enter invoices; prepare pay applications for funding
  • Manage subcontractors payment process including preparation of lien waivers and submissions of contractor and owner sworn statements to title company.
  • Prepare account analysis for job cost/WIP/A/R and A/P.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Prepare month end close and compile financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Manage software updates and system needs for Timberline
  • Assist with Management Company reporting requirements using Redpage senior housing software
  • Work with construction group to maintain software used by field management (Procore) and interface with Timberline
  • Process/Review weekly the accounts payable invoices for multiple joint venture entities
  • Oversee accounts payable and purchasing
  • Prepare pay applications for funding; lean waivers to banks and subcontractors
  • Manage project contract administration and monthly contract billing.
  • Manage all subcontractor contract administration including certified payroll, payments and lien releases.
  • Review monthly state sales tax returns, accounts receivable, journal entries, general ledgers
  • Gather accounting data monthly to compile financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assist Controller with annual budget
  • Prepare annual year-end audit schedule
  • Year-end work paper binders
  • Prepare and file all required corporate and government reports, including GSA contract requirements. Maintain all business licenses, and contractor licenses
  • Provide a full range of accounting support.
  • Organize and maintain both electronic and physical document files.
  • Deliver monthly reports with financial statistics and results for Construction Projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 5 years' accounting/finance experience in a construction environment
  • Experience with all aspects of finance function including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Cash management experience
  • Capable of manipulating large amounts of data
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High degree of personal integrity
  • A friendly positive attitude and a courteous professional demeanor
  • Personal qualities include attentiveness, initiative, and dependability
  • Associates Degree or currently enrolled in a degree program relating to finance/Accounting
  • Experience with Construction Contract management
  • Experience with Bookkeeping and/or Quickbooks required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Recommended
